Your kite level
This downwinder is not suitable for beginners.
Your kite level is intermediate to advanced.
You have experience in downwinding and have already done at least one long downwinder.
You must be able to kite downwind safely in waves and strong winds and be able to relaunch your kite quickly out of the water. The downwinders can take 3-4 hours (with breaks), so a good basic level of fitness and reliable equipment are a prerequisite.
Day 1 – 28 km | Cumbuco – Paracuru
Our downwind adventure starts after the port in Pecem, a 20-minute drive north of Cumbuco. First of all, fantastic shallow water awaits us. From Taiba onwards, wave lovers get their money’s worth. Between the cleanly breaking waves, the water is as smooth as glass. After a short break in Taiba, we continue kiting to Paracuru. In Paracuru, one of the most popular kite spots in the region awaits us, the legendary flat water and wave spot at the same time.
Overnight stay: Guajiru

Day 2 – 32 km | Lagoinha – Mundaú/Baleia
Today we start in Lagoinha. Another great downwinder with lots of waves awaits us. The route takes you past breathtaking, palm-fringed beaches. After 17 km we reach Guajiru, where a delicious lunch awaits us. A spot made for wave lovers. After another downwinder to Mundau, we head back to Guajiru, where we spend another night.
Overnight stay: Guajirú

Day 3 – 36/56 km | Guajiru – Icaraí de Amontada
We start right in front of the pousada and continue with small, clean breaking waves and lots of flat water in between. Today’s destination is the small village of Moitas. Time has stood still here. With the cozy atmosphere, the good food and the cool caips, it’s hard to continue kiting the next day.
Overnight stay: Icaraí de Amontada

Tag 4 – 28 km | Patos – Preá (Placa)
After around 40 minutes’ drive and an exciting river crossing, we reach Patos beach – the starting point of today’s downwind adventure. On the water, we first head for the Ilha do Gaujiru lagoon, around two hours of pure kitesurfing action. In Ilha do Gaujiru, we recharge our batteries with a delicious lunch before continuing to Aranau by 4×4. The second stage starts from there: we first glide over mirror-smooth, shallow water and pass the village of Preá. Directly behind it begins a fantastic stretch of beach around eight kilometers long with perfect waves – a highlight to remember!
Overnight stay: Jericoacoara

Tag 5 – 38 km | Preá – Moreias
Our downwind day today depends on the tide. If possible, we start in Preá and kite north past Jericoacoara – the favorite downwinder of many kiters. We pass Guriu, where the water is as smooth as glass between the perfectly breaking waves.
We then reach the mouth of the river, where we enjoy flat water in the river and find slightly bigger, beautiful waves in the sea. On the way, we fortify ourselves to make good progress on the remaining stretch to Moreias. We return to Jericoacoara for the night.
In 1994, the Washington Post voted the area one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. Jeri is embedded in sand dunes, all the streets are made of sand and the small alleyways are buzzing with life.
Overnight stay: Jericoacoara

Day 6 – 36 km | Jericoacoara – Camocim
My personal favorite downwinder. Past Guriu where we have perfect kite conditions. The water between the cleanly breaking waves is as smooth as glass. Then we come to the estuary, with shallow water in the river and beautiful, somewhat larger waves in the sea. Once we arrive in Tatajuba, we fortify ourselves for the rest of the journey to Camocim, where we spend the night.
Overnight stay: Camocim

Day 7 – 44 km | Camocim – Bitupitá
There is relatively shallow water and small waves all along the coast. Apart from a few fishermen, we don’t meet anyone on the way. At one point we cross a river with wonderful, mirror-smooth shallow water into which you can kite a little way. From Bitubita we continue by vehicle to Barra Grande, a kite paradise that is still an insider tip.
Overnight stay: Camocim

DAY 8 – CHECK OUT
The downwinder ends in Camocim.
After breakfast, the transfer to Cumbuco is included.
